Obituary for Marilou E. Mitchell
Marilou E. Mitchell, 68, of 215 Ferguson Road in Dryden died at home on June 13, 2018, after a long illness.
Marilou was born June 29, 1949, the daughter of the late Claud and Anna Dann of Dryden. After a number of years employed at JC Penney, she worked at the Ithaca Dental Lab alongside her husband Melvin for over thirty years. The pair also ran a teen AWANA program together at Dryden Baptist Church.
Marilou was known for her cooking, particularly her cheesecakes, and she loved animals, fresh blueberry pies, and a good joke. She frequently spent time thinking of how she could help, encourage, and give to others. For many years she has attended Calvary Baptist Church in Harford.
In addition to her parents, Marilou is predeceased by her husband Melvin Mitchell and her brother Leslie Dann. She is survived by her son, Claud (Jessica) Mitchell of McGraw, a sister Marilla (Robert) Kline of Syracuse, a brother Martin Dann of Dryden, a sister-in-law Susan Dann of Center Cross, VA, several step-children – Marie (Dave) Ryan of Syracuse, Ed (Norma) Mitchell of Pocomoke, MD, Brian (Michele) Mitchell of Elmira, Greg (Carol) Mitchell of Ithaca, Kevin Mitchell of Ithaca, and Brenda Lee of Freeville – along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 19, at 11 AM at Calvary Baptist Church, Rt. 38, Harford, NY, with Pastor Jim Owens officiating. Burial will be private in Green Hills Cemetery, Dryden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 8, Harford, NY 13784.
