Obituary for Dorothy Cecile Daniels
DOROTHY CECILE DANIELS
1920-2018
Dorothy Cecile Daniels, 97, of Glenolden, PA, died peacefully Sunday, June 24, 2018, at the Vitas Hospice, Darby, PA.
Born in Chester, PA, she was the daughter of the late David and the late Eleanor (Saucermann) Calhoun. Dorothy lived in Glenolden for the past 66 years coming from Woodlyn, PA, where her Class of 1940 was the first graduating Class of the now old Ridley High School.
She loved to read, especially Danielle Steele books, and solve “Wheel of Fortune” puzzles with Pat Sajak and Vanna White.
Dorothy was a loving and caring Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She was the longest-tenured member of the Glenolden Senior Citizens Group, which she was particularly proud of, and enjoyed Group Senior trips to Wildwood, NJ and Ladore, PA in the Poconos, where she was known to like to have fun and kick up her heels a tad.
Known affectionately by her very devoted Restaurant customers as “Dottie D”, Dorothy was a Waitress for many, many years at the former Anderson House Restaurant and MacDade Diner.
Predeceased by her Husband, John F. Daniels, Jr., Daughter, Beverly, and her Sister, Eleanor, and Brother, David.
Survived by two daughters: Cynthia Gordon (Albert Ceracoli) and Sharon Batten, and one son: John F. Daniels,III, and 5 Grandchildren; 11 Great-Grandchildren; and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved and sweet domestic short-hair feline, Sunny.
Services and burial will be private at the specific request of Dorothy.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation in her name may be made to “Special Olympics”, 2570 Boulevard of the Generals, SUITE 124, Norristown, PA 19403.
