Condolences

Condolence From: Matthew Dobson
Condolence: As I retreat to my running trails in the afternoon, I always have a prayer list. Things that I’m thankful for, things I’d like, things that trouble me, but many times more than anything, I have prayers for family and friends. Today, I have a heavy heart. Ms. Linda Jackson passed away and I pray comfort for Mr. Leon, Leah, Erin, Mark, and the rest of the family. The passing of a Christian is sweet sorrow....They’re in heaven, but the physical absence is very hard. We all grieve and we have to cope in ways that will help us get through these days. So, I think of every positive influence the person that has passed has had on me. I will always remember Ms. Linda as a caring person and a wonderful teacher. My favorite Vacation Bible School growing up at Cora Baptist was when she was my teacher. She made learning about Jesus fun. And I can remember her wanting all of the class to recite a memory verse during the commencement exercise on the final night. I was nervous to be in front of all those people and having to say it by memory. She knew I was nervous and she put her hand on my shoulder on the last day and got down at eye level with me and said, “Matthew, just do your best! It will be OK.” Well, I blanked and only got half the verse out during the service and I was embarrassed. I cried. After the program was over, she walked over to me, hugged me and said, “God is just as pleased even if you had not missed a single word. He loves you.” She helped my feelings and taught me that God loves me no matter how bad I mess up and will help me to do better the next time. I’ll never forget her and her faithfulness to her family, her church, and her Heavenly Father.
