Condolence: Kate and Elizabeth - I am so sorry for your loss. Alasdair was a wonderful guy, and I thoroughly enjoyed working for him at Brandes. He was as personable, genuine, and loyal as they come, and always spoke of his family with great pride. Alasdair will be missed by all of us that were fortunate enough to cross paths with him.

Condolence: I was saddened to hear about the recent passing of one of my first mentors in the financial services industry - Alasdair Hayes.

Beyond his accomplishments as a sales and marketing leader in the Canadian mutual fund industry, Alasdair was first and foremost a dedicated husband and father, as well as a caring and encouraging individual with a huge heart, an infectious laughter, and a passion for life and travel.

He loved to build - whether it was a business startup, a sales and marketing team, or a professional relationship. Regardless of what he was building, it all started with a clear vision and a solid foundation based on strong fundamentals, knowledge and know-how, trust and common sense, persistence and follow-through - not to mention focus and commitment to succeed!

Anyone privileged to have known Alasdair, or to have worked with him, knew his genuine nature from their first conversation with him, whether by phone or in person. He was a great judge of character, as well; quickly identifying people's strengths and abilities - which he would make sure to encourage and develop consistently over time, making them stronger for it.

I, for one, have been greatly impacted by having Alasdair Hayes in my life, and I would like to think that I have become a better person, in large part, for having known him - like so many others! And, so, Alasdair, I want to personally thank you for making a difference - not only in the industry, but more importantly, in my life: for inspiring me to become a better person, and to want to make a difference in all that I do, too. Farewell, my mentor and friend.

Condolence: I was so sorry to learn the sad news about Alasdair. I have so many wonderful memories from my time as Elizabeth’s teacher and how Alasdair and Kate were always full of laughter and joy as Elizabeth grew. Alasdair’s passion for coaching soccer to the girls was so much fun to see - and he was so kind about the tiny little soccer pitch we had during the renovations at the school. My heart goes out to Elizabeth, Kate and your family. Many, many happy memories of a lovely person - a kind man. My sincere condolences. Deryn

Condolence: Alasdair, I don’t want to believe that you are gone. I will miss our talks and reminiscing about the old days.
We joined 20/20 funds at the same time and worked side by side with John and Debbie to build it into a great company. We struggled through some tough times, market crashes are only one example, but with our team we made it a success. Through these challenges we all became a family and I will always cherish that. In my opinion our team played a big part in shaping an early stage industry and helped to make it what it is today.
You were a unique Executive VP of Sales and Marketing, I can safely say there was no one in the Mutual Fund Industry like you . You always displayed high morals and ethics in everything you did and our investors and clients were much better off because of you and your guidance. I mention this because this was not always the case in our industry.
You were respected by everyone who knew you in the business world. I am proud to call you my partner and friend. I will remember you always.
With love to you and your family, Laurie

Condolence: We were arch rivals. He Captained TCS and I at Ridley, he opened the bowling as did I and as Captain Tony pointed out we both batted down the order , even then!Fortunate for me I never faced his fast pace left arm, I put myself in when I knew he was tired!
After school we met again at the TCSCC, but this time we were teammates, then the fun began . He was a true competitor in many ways, we won a lot of games, we all laughed more, had a few beers and became good friends. We toured Bermuda together with the Greenmantles and the fun continued on the road!

I kind of liked him as the opposition but loved him as friend , a teammate and a man .Like his constant smile our memories of Alasdair will never fade away . My thoughts are with the family at this time . God Bless.

Condolence: My memories of Alasdair goes back to the 70s and 80s when we played cricket at the TCS&CC. He was a fearsome fast bowler, a dangerous lower order batsman, a competitor of the highest calibre and a team player. He seemed to be always smiling, someone you wanted to be friends with. Although we went our separate ways over the past three decades, my memories of Alasdair endures.....a truly lovely person. My condolences and best wishes to his family in this difficult time.
