Ethel Marie  Armstrong-Frailey (Casterline)
Ethel Marie Armstrong-Frailey, 90, of Battle Creek, passed away Friday, July 27, 2018. She was born May 4, 1928 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Floyd and Flaudie (Fleck) Casterline. She married the late Arthur Armstrong in 1945; he preceded her in death in 1976. Ethel worked for the Oliver Aviation Company riveting airplanes together for the Second World War, later in life she worked in the packing department for the Kellogg Company for 10 years before her retirement. She married the late Bethel Frailey in 1994; he preceded her in death in 2013. In her younger years Ethel really enjoyed snowmobiling. She loved to go to the casino and she was an excellent cook. Ethel was very creative and artistically inclined. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Ronald Armstrong, Richard (Tina Meinke) Armstrong, Cathy (Jesse Boyer) Walsh, Peggy Turcott, and Gayle (James) Adams; siblings, Howard (Natalie) Casterline, Dorothy Travis, Gloria (Phil) Brown, and Mary Lou (Charles) Klute; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Arthur; second husband, Bethel; siblings, Jeanette Casterline, Anita Wilson, Gladys Lipps, Clarence Casterline and Stanley Casterline; son in law, John Walsh; daughter in law, Elizabeth Armstrong; and her great grandson, Austin Armstrong.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 PM at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service. Burial will take place at a later date at the East Hickory Cemetery in Barry Township, MI. Memorial tributes may be made to Pennfield Presbyterian Church Yes We Can Campaign or the Carrie Adams Educational Fund.
