Condolences

Condolence From: Nancy Garner
Condolence: Mort and I heard about Roy's untimely death shortly before we left for a trip out of the country and were gone at the time of the memorial service. We were so sorry to miss the service because we would have felt much better had we been able to celebrate his life. He was truly a special person and will be missed by all who were privileged to know him. Norma and family, please know that you are in our thoughts and want to be supportive in this time of sadness and loss. Our love, Nancy Garner and Mort Gitelman

Condolence: Dear Norma and family - such a sad day to "read" about Roy's passing. While we do not keep in touch very often, please know of our love and concern in your loss. When family gets down to cousins it
somehow seems hard to stay connected. We are not able to attend the memorial celebration on Sunday, but will be remembering the good times we have spent together.

Condolence From: Scott & Carolyn (aka Mom) Crook
Condolence: It was with great sadness that we learned of Roy's passing--Scott and I have such great memories of Roy on the trail working harder than all of us but by his example we all kept on going. He called me "Mom" and it was a name that tied us together. All of the trails will miss Roy as he knew how to keep them in shape. Norma you were such a help to him and understood his desire to get out and work to clear the trails or to build and you supported that effort to the benefit of all who now hike the OHTA and Colorado trail. We will miss him.

Condolence: I am so sorry to hear the news on Roy..he definitely was the fun of the party at Hare Mountain every year. Always going ahead of time to make sure the trail was clear and make sure there was plenty of firewood for the weekend. His passion for the trails showed in the work he so tiredly did on the trails I am privileged to have met Roy and Norma and their sweet grand blessings Gus and Tabitha at the many Hare Mountain gatherings. Rest In Peace sweet man, your legacy will definitely live on. Norma you have a large support group of OHTA friends to wrap their arms around you...prayers and hugs...

Condolence: Norma and Suzanne, many dear friends are going to miss Roy. Put me at the top of that list. His smile and love of life were an inspiration to me. Always had my mood lifted when he was around. Made a donation in his name to Ozark Society - Buffalo River Legal Defense Fund. Know he would approve. Will be thinking of you and him this weekend.

Condolence: Norma, you have my sincere sympathy. I knew Roy and his older brother Ricky back in Pine Bluff. What a pleasure it was to spend some time with Roy in Fort Smith years later. He always cheered me up. And I know how happy you made him. I will never forget Roy's smile and great sense of humor.

Condolence: Roy was such an outdoorsman and he gave back so much. He could out work 2 people on the trails. He will be missed by so many. He is leaving hard shoes to fill. We are sure he inspired many to get out and see the world with his attitude and love of nature. I am just glad that we had the privilege of knowing him.

Condolence: Roy was one of those people whom you loved being around and he will be missed so much. He was the life of the party and yet a guy whom you could depend on and the hours and hours of work he did on the OHTA was nothing short of amazing. He will always be remembered.
