Gina Marie Cangiano, age 54, lifelong resident of West Haven and the beloved wife of Luigi Cangiano, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Born in New Haven on October 17, 1963, she was the daughter of Charlesina (Cash) Stancarone and the late Robert Stancarone. Gina enjoyed a career as a paraprofessional of special education for the New Haven Public School System at Benjamin Jepson Magnet School for many years. She was an avid New York Rangers fan and enjoyed fishing, spending time at the beach and cooking. Gina will be remembered as a shining light to all who came in contact with her. Her family, children, and granddaughter were her entire world. To her many friends and coworkers, she will be sorely missed.
In addition to her husband and mother, Gina is survived by her children, Nikki Stancarone, Michael Cangiano, Brandon Cangiano, granddaughter, Madison Cicarella, brother Michael (Julie) Stancarone, niece Chloe Stancarone, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Robert “B.J.” Stancarone, maternal grandmother Pauline Hutchins, and paternal grandparents, Beatrice and Joseph Stancarone.
The hours of visitation will be take place on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home Monday morning at 10:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in Saint John Vianney Church at 11:00.
