Born in Kalavasos, Larnaca, Cyprus to the late Michael and Olympiada Ioannides, she came to the United States at the age of 13, residing in East Orange, N.J. and eventually settling in Livingston. She attended Rutgers Douglas College, New Brunswick. Crystal was known for her strong work ethic, holding various titles throughout her career. As an active member of Ss. Nicholas, Constantine and Helen Church, she was a volunteer at many of the church’s functions which included cooking at their annual festival.

She will be remembered as being charitable and a homemaker devoted to the care of her family. She befriended so many who were down and out, always making them cared for and respected. Crystal was always among the first parishioners to welcome a new priest and his family into the community and into her home. She instantly adopted them by integrating them into her family gatherings and celebrations. Crystal was called on many times by these priests to assist them in holy rituals, never one to say no. She always fulfilled her sacred duties, even it was to pick up parishioners who needed a ride, she would gladly do so, and deliver them safely to church to partake in the sacred liturgy.

Predeceased by her parents, she is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, George Hatzimanolis; beloved children, Lia Plutar (Rodger), Vasilios Hatzimanolis, and Olympia Chamcham (Mehdi); cherished granddaughter, Sofia; and caring siblings, Magdeline Stefanou, Paul Ioannides (Carol), and Charlie Ioannides (Anne).

In lieu of flowers, donations in Crystal’s memory may be made to Pancreatic Cancer, P.O. Box 1848, Longmont, CO 80502 or Ss. Nicholas, Constantine, and Helen G.O. Church Beautification of the Church Fund, 80 Laurel Ave., Roseland, N.J. 07068.
