Obituary for Anne Clair Blake (Ware)

Mrs. Anne Clair Ware Blake, age 89, a resident of Belington, departed this life Monday afternoon, August 27, 2018 in the Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown. She had been in usual health and death was unexpected.

She was born August 12, 1929 at Elkins, WV, a daughter of the late Samuel Francisco and Flossie Mae Swick Ware. On July 2, 1949 she was united in marriage to Austin Junior Blake, who preceded her in death on May 5, 1992.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters; Marjorie Williams and husband Johnny P. Williams I and Laura Canterbury and husband Tim all of Belington, one brother; Otis Ware of Waterfalls, PA., seven grandchildren; Stephanie Hickman and husband Kenny, Traci Galagher and husband Tom, Blake Williams and wife Amy, Johnny Williams II and wife Toby, Adam Williams and wife Michelle, Aaron Harris and wife Lana, and David Williams and wife Kelly, thirteen great-grandchildren; Samuel Deffet, Johnny & Maverick Williams, Daniel, Alex, & Eli Williams, Kiara Harris, Audrey Williams, Seth & Noah Hickman, Austin, Tyler & Elijah Williams, and four step great-grandchildren; Paige & Jonna Tanner and Bryson & Keeley Wildman. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter; Cheryl Williams, four brothers; Amos Kermit Ware, Ted Ware Sr., Denzel Ware, and Gerald Lee Ware, four sisters; Thelma Ware, Zelma Vanscoy, Emma Jean McKinney, and Zona Bibey.

Anne graduated from Belington High School with the class of 1946. She was employed by the postal service for 19 years and was a lifelong member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Laurel Mountain Post 410 of Belington. Anne was a 50 + year member of the Barbour County Hilltoppers CEOS and in 2009 she reigned as County Belle. Anne was devout Christian and attended the Westside United Methodist Church where she had served as Sunday school teacher for many years and was active in the woman’s society of the church. Anne was very creative and talented with crafts, oil painting, & baking and loved to volunteer at the Heart and Hand Ministries. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington, from
6 to 9 pm on Thursday August 30th, 2018 with the Laurel Mountain Post #410 VFW Ladies Auxiliary conducting ritualistic services at 7:00pm. Friends may call again on Friday August 31th, 2018 from 8am – 11am the funeral hour when final rites will be conducted with the Pastor Johnny Paul Williams II officiating. Interment will then follow in the Church of the Brethren Cemetery near Junior. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Heart and Hand Ministries P.O. Box 128 Philippi, WV 26416.
