RICHARD CHARLES EASTON
Richard C. Easton, 81, of Cass City, died following a brief illness Wednesday, September 12, 2018 in Covenant Medical Center Select Specialty, Saginaw. He was born August 31, 1937 in Caro to Harry and Adeline (Krietzer) Easton. He married Patricia Ann Profit November 10, 1962 in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Cass City. She died June 19, 2014.
Dick attended grade school at Sand Valley and graduated from Cass City High School at age 15. He began working as a cash crop farmer and later for Smith Douglas Fertilizer. Dick later worked as a sales representative for Diamond Electric of Bad Axe until retiring. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where he faithfully served for many years in various leadership positions including financial secretary, trustee and elder. Most recently, he served on the church council as the congregational Vice-President. Dick and Pat were members of Good Sam’s Camping Club. Together they enjoyed camping all over the United States, including Alaska and various places in Canada. Dick was fond of playing euchre with his family and friends. He loved hunting for deer and turkey, but his favorite was rabbit hunting with his beagle, Red.
Dick is survived by his sister-in-law, Esther (Norm) Jones of Leamington, ON; nephew, Randy (Nancy) Easton of Lapeer; nieces: Joanne (Steve) Smukala of Bad Axe, Debbie Easton of Carrollton; great niece, Shannon (Frank) Horning of Cass City; great nephews: Phillip (Alysia) Easton of Lapeer, Chris (Heather) Easton of Lapeer, Thomas (Jessica) Thorp of Ruth; great-great nieces and nephews: Erica, Natalie, and Bradley Horning, Isabelle, Kody and Kyle Easton, Noah and Lily Thorp. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Easton; brothers: Arthur (Cathy) Easton, Harold Easton, Calvin (Helen) Easton; sister, Lucille Easton; great nephew, Eric Easton.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 15, 2018 in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Cass City with Rev. Steve Bagnall officiating. Interment will be in Novesta Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Easton will be: Frank Horning, Bradley Horning, Phillip Easton, Chris Easton, Randy Easton, Thomas Thorp, Kody Easton, and Kyle Easton.
