Milton Leslie Neal passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, September 12, 2018. He was born April 9, 1940 to Arnold and Lady Neal in Pearsall, Texas. He was 78 years old.
As the youngest of ten children, he spent his childhood years living on the farm in Pearsall where he learned his work ethic and happiness came from family, friends and serving the Lord much more so than wealth and possessions. He attended Texas A&I Kingsville, where he met the love of his life, married, and began his career in the oil field. He was drafted into the US Army in 1963. Upon completion of duty, he returned to the oil field where he spent 47 years working throughout South Texas for Haliburton, Schaefer Well Service, Well Tech and Key Energies. He moved his family to Victoria, Texas in 1974 where they lived for 25 years before moving to the ranch in Goliad in 1997. He continued to work until 2006 and then retired to full time ranching.
He was a jack of all trades and met each challenge head on. He is best remembered as a man full of integrity, hardworking, loving, kind and giving of himself to everyone. He was a gentle giant with not only the biggest hands but also the best bear hugs. He faithfully served God as a very active deacon at Baptist Temple Church, Victoria, and First Baptist Church, Goliad.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert Neal of Nixa, MO and Joseph Neal of Tomball, TX.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Beverly Wright Neal, son Mark Neal (Nancy) of Edna, TX, daughters Leslie Terrell of Jonestown, TX and Karen Korenek (Kurt) of Cypress, TX, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren, brothers Billy, Wilson, James and Iven Neal of Pearsall, TX, Fred Neal of Midland, TX, Charles Neal of Mathis, TX and sister Frances Fitzpatrick of Odessa, TX as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the many friends, doctors and caregivers who helped him throughout the years in his battle with cancer.
Family visitation will be held Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Grace Funeral Home in Goliad from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00p.m. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church – Goliad on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 2:00p.m., with interment following at Glendale Cemetery in Goliad.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made directly to the First Baptist Church of Goliad, Texas for the parking lot extension, a project very near and dear to Milton’s heart.
