Margaret Evelyn ""Maggie""  Stafford
It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Margaret Evelyn “Maggie” Stafford, age 74 of Battle Creek, announces the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend on Monday, September 17, 2018 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo,
She was born May 19, 1944 in Battle Creek, MI the daughter of John Clarence Lieb and Ethel Lucy (Jones) Lieb.
Maggie had worked for 30 years at the Battle Creek Veterans Medical Center starting in the laundry department and retiring from the payroll department as a payroll clerk in 1994. She attended Bellevue High School and participated in Barrel horse races with the 4-H club. She enjoyed going to the casino, playing bingo, bowling through the M-66 lanes, playing golf league through the VA, enjoyed NASCAR races following Marty Robbins when he used to race. She enjoyed traveling particularly to Branson to hear county western signers.
She had married to William Garges, Freeman "Willard" Fox and Raymond Stafford (Aug 3, 2004)
She is survived by her son: Steven Garges and Colleen Eckmark of Nashville, TN; her daughter: Tonjya & Fernando Elizabeth Sanchez of Battle Creek, MI; two step daughters: Karen & Michael Kissel of Kalamazoo and Lisa & Keith Langdon of Portage, MI; four grandchildren: Chelsie Brust; Brooke & Jeffery Ives; Jeffrey Brust; Jaaliyah Sanchez; her three brothers: Sidney Lieb of California, Eldon W. Lieb of Assyria, MI;
Gayl C. Lieb of Assyria, MI.
In more recent years she enjoyed being a Taxi driver for grandkids and great grandkids ---De'Shaun Wilson, Jr., Breyonna Wilson, Sylas Wilson, Olivia Ives, Jeffery Ives, Jr. She enjoyed running the streets with her best friend Barbara Banks. She would like to chase after her cat -- ROMIE. She relished gossiping with her nieces: Pam Lockwood and Suzie Hughes; and keeping track of her niece: Melissa Richardson. She was trying to keep up with everybody on FaceBook. She was well known for her repetitive phone calls to her family and friends and if you didn’t answer, she may haunt you!.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters--- Arneita Van Tassel (June 2, 1999) and Agnes Smith in 2017; a brother : Edmond "Mike" Lieb in 2018
Visitation will be held Monday September 24, 2018 from 12 noon until 1 PM at the Bachman Funeral Chapel; services to begin at 1 Pm with Pastor Steven Olmstead officiating. Committal and inurnment to follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI. Memorial tributes may be made to: Humane Society of Southcentral Michigan.
