Sandra Gary Stewart, age 77 of South Hill Virginia, passed away on Friday, September 28, 2018. She was born to the late Benjamin Gary and the late Merry Merrill on September 23, 1941. Her other passions were reading, gardening, and traveling. For many years leading to her passing she collected a library of books and especially enjoyed Civil War History. She took her love of reading to the community by volunteering her time at the public library in South Hill, even teaching an older person that desperately wanted to learn to read, how to read. Sandra was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Sidney Leon Stewart. She is survived by her two sons, Mark Gary Stewart and his wife Patricia Stewart, and David Gregory Stewart. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Nathaniel Walker and Emily Stewart, along with a greatgrandchild Cameren Walker, her sister Dianne Williams ant two nieces, Sarah McDaniel and Raegan Morris. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 11:00 am at the American Legion in South Hill Va.

I will always remember Sandra for her beautiful smile, sense of humor, free spirit, for her friendship with my mother, and the memories my family made with her and the family.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Sandra. I will never forget her. She was a kind hearted person and my mom’s best friend.
