Arthur M. Hubbard, Jr., loving husband of 71 years to Connie (Carofano) Hubbard died on Sept 29, 2018. He was born in New Haven on Feb. 18, 1926, a son of the late Arthur and Ruffenna (Ulrich) Hubbard. A lifelong resident of West Haven, he was educated in the West Haven School system. Art proudly served in the US Navy, European Theater, during WWII. He worked for the US Postal Service, retiring after 39 years. He later worked for the City of West Haven as Assistant Assessor and later as Acting Assessor. He was a long time parishioner and usher at Our Lady of Victory Church and was active in many church functions, including minstrel shows and carnivals as well as being a past president of the OLOV Men’s Club. He was one of the founders of the West Haven Little League and umpired many baseball and softball games throughout the region. He was also a past member of the West Haven Lions Club, and the Greater New Haven Baseball League, as well as a volunteer at St. Raphael’s Hospital and the Southbury Training School. In addition to his beloved wife, Connie, Art leaves many cherished nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law Joan Pepe, Elaine Welch, and Bernice Hubbard. He was predeceased by his sister Phyllis and brother William.
Visitation will take place on TUESDAY morning from 8:30 to 10:30 at the West Haven Funeral Home at the green. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Victory Church at 11 o’clock. Interment, with military honors, will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
