Emmet P. Hibson, loving husband of 57 years to Ann (Petrillo) Hibson passed peacefully after a brief illness on September 30, 2018. Born in New Haven on December 2, 1935, he was a son of the late Emmet V. and Helen Kolensky Hibson. A lifelong resident of West Haven, Emmet proudly served over 30 years in the military, including active duty in the United States Navy, and then in the Connecticut National Guard for over twenty years, including activation and deployment to Desert Storm. He is retired from the City of West Haven Police Department, for which he worked for over 30 years as a police officer, rising to the rank of sergeant. He was a lifelong baseball and Boston Red Sox fan and coached many West Haven teens in the West Shore Athletic League.
In addition to his beloved wife, Ann, he leaves his daughter Lisa, his son Emmet, Jr. (Kimberly), and his two beloved grandchildren, Christopher and Elisabeth (Ellie). Emmet also leaves a brother, Robert, and many cherished in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Emmet is predeceased by his sisters Maureen (Robert) Coffey and Deirdre (Richard) DePaola.
The hours for visitation will take place on FRIDAY from 3 to 6 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home, at the green. Prayers and military honors will begin at 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Fisher House of CT., c/o The Creed Law Firm, 653 Terryville Ave, Bristol, CT 06010.
