Obituary for Betty J. Lundquist (Hartman)

Print
Betty J. Lundquist, 95 of Everett, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 1st, 2018.

She was born Monday, March 26th, 1923 in Everett, a daughter of the late Harry H. "Tack" Hartman and Pearl May (Blankley) Hartman.

On December 31st, 1945 in Winchester, Virginia, she married Donald L. Lundquist who passed away on November 27th, 1949.

She is survived by their grandson, Troy Lundquist and wife Janet (Crosby) Lundquist of Fortson Georgia,

Three great-grandchildren,
Matthew Lundquist, of California, Maryland
Carolyne Lundquist and Davin Lundquist, both of Fortson,

Two nieces, Linda Suter of Bedford and Joan Tewell of Carlisle,

And four nephews,
Donald DeCooman of Palm Coast, Florida,
Joseph “Louis” DeCooman of Ellwood City,
R. Lee DeCooman of Chaneysville,
and William DeCooman of State College.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in passing away by her only son, H. David Lundquist and two sisters, Marie L. DeCooman and Josephine R. Shaffer.

Mrs. Lundquist was a lifetime member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Everett, and a graduate of Everett High School, Class of 1941. She then attended Catherman’s Business School in Cumberland, graduating in 1945, later working as a secretary at Teamsters, Local 453 in Cumberland until retiring in February of 1984.

At home, Betty enjoyed spending the evenings on her front porch glider, talking with her sister Josephine and neighbor and best friend Mary Belle Price. Her many years of front porch socializing unofficially earned her the title “Matriarch of South Street" as she waved and greeted so many passers by. She truly valued the many visits, telephone conversations and cards she received from her family and friends, and will truly be missed by her neighbors and church family.

Funeral service will be Thursday, October 4th, 2018 at 12:00 noon in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett with Vicar Kathy Popp officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com.

Burial will be held at Everett Cemetery.

In memory of Betty, her family asks that memorial contributions be made the South Central Blind Association of Bedford County, 202 South Juliana Street, Bedford, PA 15522 or to the Home Nursing Agency Family Hospice, 201 Chestnut Avenue, Altoona, PA 16601.
