Margaret T. Henahan Romeyn, 66, of Hagaman Avenue, Amsterdam, NY, passed away comfortably at home, Wednesday evening, October 3, 2018.

Born June 8, 1952 in Hammond, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Catherine O’Brien Henahan.

Margaret received her education at Our Lady of Sorrows School and Providence High School in Chicago, IL. She also attended Fulton Montgomery Community College in Johnstown NY, where she was a member of the Phi-Beta-Kappa Sorority.

Margaret was employed as a store manager at Hand Me Up and Downs in Amsterdam, until her illness forced her retirement.

Margaret was married to Melvin “Jim” Romeyn on January 1, 1988 and who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Vanessa Cornell of Albany, NY; one son, Corey Romeyn of Collingswood, NJ; and a stepson, James Romeyn of Leesburg, FL; one granddaughter, Mary Coyle and two step grandchildren, Alexis and Tyler Romeyn, two sisters, Norah Latuszek and Doreen Bryan (Ken), nieces, nephews, cousins and her pet dog, Toots and her cat, Kizmet.

Margaret was also predeceased by one brother, Malachy Henahan and a sister, Mary Shanahan.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Catholic Burial, which will be celebrated Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 11:15 at St. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY, 12010, with Rev. Jeffrey L’Arche, M.S. officiating.

There are no calling hours.

Cremation was held at Park View Crematory in Schenectady.
