Obituary for Mark Roger McCrerey

Mark R. McCrerey, loving husband, amazing father, and award-winning master builder left us suddenly on the morning of October 2, 2018. Mark was a living miracle, surviving a liver transplant 20 years ago just before his beloved twin boys turned 1. He rallied, persisted and embraced every day thereafter with vigor, joy and appreciation. It is impossible to put into words this man's impact on the lives and communities he helped build. Mark was born in Monterey, CA son of a US Navy officer, a career that took the family to many duty stations in the US and abroad, including Hawaii, Morocco and the Philippines. Mark attended high school at Punahou School in Honolulu, HI. In Hawaii, his passion for surfing was kindled and he remained in love with all things water throughout his life. After graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1974, Mark formed McCrerey & Roberts Const. Inc., specializing in fine custom homes and light commercial construction. He earned Master Builder designation from the NAHB and helped organize the Summit County Association of Home Builders, the initial Summit County Parade of Homes, and served in several positions with the Colorado Association of Home Builders including as its president. Mark was an avid outdoorsman and athlete. When not working he could be found skiing, golfing, waterskiing, and swam each day. Mark leaves behind his wife, Cynthia, and sons Pierce and Trent of Boulder, CO; mother Ann McCrerey of Frisco, CO; sisters Linda McCrerey Penland, of Bishop, CA, and Rebecca McCrerey, of Golden, CO, and brother Daniel McCrerey, of Frisco, CO. With gratitude, we ask that donations be made to University of Colorado Hospital/Transplant Unit for without this organization and their continued care of Mark, he would have left us long ago. A Celebration of Mark's Life will be held from 2-6 pm on Sunday October 21st at Keystone Conference Center. US Hwy 6 Keystone, CO
