Hazel A. Motter, 81

Hazel A. Motter, 81 of Ashland passed away, Sunday, October 07, 2018 in the Good Shepherd Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on August 6, 1937 to the late Owen E. and Mildred (nee Hart) West. Hazel graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1955.

Hazel married the love of her life, Donald Motter on April 10, 1957.

She worked as a home health aide for many years. Hazel was a devoted member of the Maple Grove Church of the Brethren. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, the great outdoors, and her canine companion her dachshund, Angel.

Hazel is survived by two daughters, Sheryl Edwards of Ashland and Shelley (Robert) Vermillion of Savannah; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Carol Roger of Ashland.

In addition to her parents, Hazel is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Motter on June 9, 1990; one daughter, Sara Motter on January 26, 1996; two brothers, Thomas and Buddy West; one sister, Audrey Ritchie; and a son-in-law, David Edwards.

Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Reverend John Ballinger officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ashland County Humane Society, 1710 Garfield Avenue, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
