FARMINGDALE, MAINE
Claire J. “Bunny” Weed, age 92, died Friday, October 5, 2018 at the Maine Veterans Home following a brief illness. She was born in Newton, Lower Falls, MA on May 28, 1926, a daughter of the late Karl and Esther (Mallard) Yutzler. She grew up in Natick, MA and lived there until she moved to Hallowell, ME her senior year.
Bunny was a graduate of Cony High School and was a member and singer in the choir at Penney Memorial United Baptist Church, Augusta. She studied piano and voice for 10 years and was offered her own radio program. During the war years she sang at the VA hospitals in Maine and Massachusetts.
She was a licensed beautician for a period and homemaker for most of her life. She enjoyed ceramics and playing the piano.
Mrs. Weed was pre-deceased by her parents, a brother, Austin Jones, and a brother-in-law, John N. Thomas.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Chester A. Weed of Farmingdale; two sons: David A. Weed and wife Carol of West Virginia and Gary S. Weed and fiancé Jane McLaughlin of Farmingdale and Augusta; a sister, Enid Thomas of Tennessee, and a sister-in law Norma Jones of Union; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
At her request, there will be no public visiting hours. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 13th at 10 AM at Manchester Forks Cemetery, Manchester.
