Helen (Filliol) Aardsma

"Mrs. Loewen, a dear mentor to me all my growing up years...She was the mom to my best friend Jane. This lady was a wonderful homemaker, wife and mother, entertaining friends in her home at least once per week, made fresh bread and baking for every meal, etc. She was what I wanted to be when I grew up. She had a large garden, made dill pickles and pickled beets, froze tons of corn, raised their own meat, sewed all her children's clothes She was wise, godly, and always serving others. I spent many, many wonderful and happy days and weekends in her home while growing up. It was only as a young adult, getting married and having my first child that I realized what an impact she had on my life. I wrote to her about 15 years ago and told her all that she meant to me and that she had impacted my life more than anyone I had known. She wrote back the sweetest letter to me, with tear stains on it, and was so grateful to hear from me. I have never met anyone like her before or since. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. A true Proverbs 31 woman! My sympathies to the whole family, especially Jane, my childhood friend. With love, Helen
