Wilfredo Martell, 82, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Honduras on October 2, 1936, he was the son of the late Hilario and Rafaela (Alvarenga) Martell. He was educated in the schools of Honduras and served in the Honduran Air Force as an airplane mechanic. After his discharge, he studied to be a cartographer in the jungles of Panama.
On December 12, 1965, he married Amalia Segovia in Honduras. Together they moved to Chicago in 1970 and then to Kenosha in 2003.
Wilfredo was employed with the Chicago Transit Authority for 26 years, retiring in 1998.He enjoyed tinkering with cars and working on model cars and airplanes. He was also very passionate about soccer, always rooting for his favorite team, Barcelona.
Survivors include his wife, Amalia Martell of Kenosha; two daughters, Wilda (Stephen) Komp of Kenosha and Amy (Joseph) Guzman of Chicago; a sister, Miriam (Rolando) Selva of Chicago; and three granddaughters, Jessica Komp, Ashley Komp, and Sophia Guzman.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Arnold Martell; and a sister, Thelma Martell.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 13th, at Proko Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
