Obituary for David Gary Scarpa, Sr.

David Gary Scarpa, Sr.
David G. Scarpa, Sr., 67, of Lee, MA passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Pittsfield, MA on May 26, 1951 to Robert and Betty (Conrad) Scarpa. He attended Lee Public Schools and graduated from Lee High School in 1970. He became a stone mason after trade school and retired after 40 years of dedicated service.
Dave loved watching sports, fishing up Beartown, golfing and cheering on his Red Sox! He was an even bigger fan of his children and always made the time to be at their games to support them. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, working in his yard while joking with neighbors, making salami and cider up the camp and reading his newspapers. He was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need.
David is survived by his high school sweetheart, Suzanne (Tart) Scarpa, whom he married on January 8, 1972 as well as his children: David Jr., Kelsey, Tanya and her boyfriend, Pat Agar. Nothing brought a smile to his face more than his cherished granddaughters: Isabella, Sophia and Madeline. They truly were the sunshine of his life. He is predeceased by his son-in-law, Michael Andrews. He also leaves behind his five siblings: Donna, Karen and her husband, Darrell Shedd, Lee and his wife, Diane, Robert, Bud and his wife, Nancy and also a large extended family on both sides.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 18th, 11AM at St. Mary’s Church, 140 Main Street, Lee, with the Rev. Brian McGrath, pastor, officiating. Burial will be private at the family’s convenience. In keeping with David’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stroke Unit at Berkshire Medical Center through Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main Street, Lee, MA 01238.
