Sylvia, Robert F, age 81 of Medfield and Pocasset passed away peacefully on Thursday October 25, 2018. Beloved husband of the late Marie (Shea) Sylvia, father of Jack Sylvia and his wife Eileen Lynch of Medfield and Pocasset and Carol Kelleher and her husband Edward of Sandwich. Cherished grandfather of Robert, James, Michaela and Thomas. Bob graduated from the University of New Hampshire and Boston College Law School. After serving as a Captain in the US Army JAG Corps at Fort Lewis, WA, Bob practiced law in Boston at Fine and Ambrogne and Hinckley Allen until his retirement. Active in Medfield town affairs, Bob served as the Chairman of the Board of Appeals for over 35 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and many dear friends, summers on the Cape, dogs, travel and military history. Bob also leaves his sister in law Joan Shaughnessy and her husband Walter of Pocasset, their children and families, and his cousin Judy Thurwanger of Colorado. Funeral Mass will be Wed Oct 31st 10am at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 133 Spring St, Medfield. Burial with full military honors to follow at Vine Lake Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tues 4-7 at the Roberts Mitchell Caruso Funeral Home, 15 Miller St, Medfield. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the University of New Hampshire or a charity of your choice.
