Obituary for Margaret E. Freeman

Margaret E. Freeman of Arcade, died Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the Pines Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Machias at the age of 100.

She was born August 16, 1918 in Barrow-in-Furness, England, a daughter of the late Art and Ruby Aldus.

As a teenager, she came to the United States and settled in Arcade in 1936 when her parents purchased the Arcade Hotel. Peggy was a member of the Arcade VFW Women's Auxiliary and she loved traveling. She had traveled to Egypt, Turkey, China and Greece. From 1961-1965 she had lived in Brazil with her husband, Ted. In her 90's she had even traveled to India to see the Taj Mahal. In her later years, she enjoyed less strenuous cruises and completed a three week world cruise.

Peggy was the past owner and operator of the Arcade Hotel and bowling lanes.

She is survived by her daughter - Sheila (Jack) Haettich of Arcade; her granddaughter - Natalie (Steven) Nuttall of Olean, four great-grandchildren: Nicholas Miller, Daniel Miller, Kristopher Miller and Sarah Morgan; a great-great grandson - Spencer Aldridge.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband - Donald Lusk; her second husband - Edward "Ted" Freeman; her granddaughter- Rhonda Williams and son-in-law: Wayne Williams.

Upon Peggy's request, there will be no calling hours or Funeral Service. Interment will be held in Siloam Cemetery in Freedom.
