Doris Mae Cacio, 94, of Fishkill, formerly of Wappingers Falls, passed away peacefully Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Fishkill Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing. Doris was born in Queens, New York on May 12, 1924, the daughter of Harry Leppingwell and Winifred Gundry. On December 11, 1948, she married Robert Cacio at the Little Church Around the Corner in Manhattan. Doris and Robert soon moved to the Hudson Valley, where they started a family. Doris was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church, Wappingers Falls, where she served as an Elder, Deacon, and Treasurer. She was employed at the former Wappingers Savings Bank as a bank officer. She was also a Girl Scout leader for many years, a member of the Hughsonville Fire Co. Ladies Auxillary, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, and at Castle Point Veterans Hospital for more than 15 years. Warm, loving, and vivacious, Doris enjoyed spending time with her many friends and family, especially her four granddaughters. She was always willing to lend a hand to those in need, and was especially helpful to numerous friends in the later years of their lives. Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert, in 2000; they had been married 52 years. Her siblings, Winifred Leppingwell and Charles Leppingwell also predeceased her. She is survived by her daughters, Winifred Manners of Mountain View, CA and Lucille Holohan (Thomas) of Fishkill; her grandchildren Laura Manners Hughes (Paul) of Pleasant Hill, CA, Lisa Manners Bonine (Joshua) of Williamsburg, VA, Kate Holohan (Thomas) of San Jose, CA, and Megan Holohan of Fishkill; one great-grandchild, Franklin Holohan-Holme; and a nephew, Richard Leppingwell (Maria) of Hendersonville, NC. There will be no calling hours. Memorial services will be held at a future date. Burial will be in Wappingers Rural Cemetery.
