December 29, 1947 – November 12, 2018
Summer has always been one of my favorite seasons, even now as a much older man. But it was truely an exciting time when I was just a kid! Back then the summers seemed to last forever.
Some of my fondest summer memories were then I would spend time with my Aunt Freda & Uncle Harley on their farm. Now it was not a bigger farm but for a kid that lived in a sub division it was as large as the heartland itself.
I would typically stay about a week working & learning (mostly playing) about farm life. I am sure of it that I was not much help but Uncle Harley never seemed to mind, he just liked having me around. I recall one summer when he showed me how to catch little piglets, how to fix them (if you know what I mean!), but most importantly stay away from mother pig. She gets extremely angry & upset when you take her babies from her!
I must admit that I have not thought abut those summers in Swords Creek for a very very long time. Uncle Harley and Aunt Freda, thanks for the memories may they warm our hearts, dry our tears, but most importantly piont us to the one who provides the best memories. Isaiah 46:9, "Remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me."
