Obituary for Edward Adolph Bosio

Edward Adolph Bosio
Edward A. Bosio, 94, Stevens Point, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

He was born Sept. 1, 1924, in Tapiola, Mich., the son of the late John and Ida (Grangood) Bosio. He married Angeline Vancena on Nov. 13, 1948, in Michigan. She preceded him in death on Aug. 25, 2009.

Raised on a farm in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Ed was truly a member of the greatest generation. He enlisted in the Navy after graduation from high school, serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS Independence during World War II. A highly decorated veteran, he survived the torpedo attack on their ship during the Battle of Tarawa. After the war, he completed a degree in civil engineering from the University of Detroit and embarked on a successful career in construction that included owning his own businesses on three different occasions. In 1948, he married Angeline Vancena and they moved to Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, where their four children were born. After a few years, they moved to Merrill to fulfill their dream of owning a lake home and he spent the rest of his life in the Merrill/Wausau area.

Ed’s greatest passion in life, which he shared with his wife, was golf. He also loved to play bridge and was an accomplished woodworker.

Survivors include his children, Margaret (Felix Grutzik) Parsons, Junction City, John (Beth) Bosio, Broomfield, Colo., and David (Margie) Bosio, Wausau; and his grandchildren, John (Melissa) Parsons, Michael (Elizabeth) Parsons, Emily (Chad Hinshaw) Bosio, Andrew (Emily) Bosio, William Bosio and Matthew (Beth) Bosio. He was preceded in death by a son, Don Bosio, a great-granddaughter, Amelia Parsons, five brothers, and a sister.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Donald Meuret will officiate. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Merrill. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until time of services at the church. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be made at www.bestefh.com.
