Loving grandmother, mother, aunt, and sister

Siphoan Sann was born July 2, 1945 in the district of S’Ang Kandal province. During her birth her mother passed away and she was left with only her three older brothers and father who continued to care for her. Her father would than remarry and have more children whom Siphoan would help raise.

In her teenage years she would work in the capital city of Phnom Pehn at an Indian fabric shop. During this time was when she met her late husband Sam Ang Mang whom at the time was working at factory in the capital city Phnom Pehn.

They both eventually endured their time in the capital until the unfortunate loss of their newborn baby. It was after this event her husband enlisted in the army and they moved to the western part of the country.

There was a time when she wept under a tree and found a golden leaf that was only custom to royalty.

Her father-in-law was a high ranking military officer who commanded a good number of troops at the western province of Battambang and was part of the French army. She would help serve her husband and brother-in-laws (approximately 5 total) as they were all serving the military and fighting the communist soldiers. She was great in dealing with business and handling tough family and financial situations, able to make quick important decisions that would leave a long-lasting affect on all her family members.

She had the privilege of being around royalty, dignitary, famous singers and military officer while the war was still raging against the communist in the country. She would recount her time with the then princess and now queen Norodom Monineath Sihanouk and famous singer Ros Sereysothea and Sinn Sisamouth

She would endure with her family and family-in-law during the war and the communist takeover. Many times during the Pol Pot murderous regime she would maneuver in different ways of speaking with the communist soldiers from executing all the family members. It was the communist soldiers liking of her cooking in which she and the rest of the family was spared.

When the Vietnamese invaded she acted quickly to mobilize the family to the Thai border to seek refuge. They endured much hardship on the mission to Thailand as she and her family watched family members die from land mines, communist soldiers raping\killing civilians, Thais soldiers beating and stealing from many. Eventually she and the rest of the family made it to U.N. refugee camps on the Thai border. Here she did everything she could to feed the family and ensure their survival.

She and the family were granted sponsorship to the U.S.A arriving in the year 1980 in Chicago, IL. In Chicago, she worked multiple jobs and continues save money. She worked at factories, the Chicago Bears stadium, and Wrigley field selling hot dogs, popcorn, and soda.

The family had to move to Boston, MA, as her youngest granddaughter needed medical attention which only the New England Children Floating Hospital was able to provide. Eventually she and the rest of the family settled in Lowell, MA, and since 1987, have established multiple businesses in Medical Transportation, Business Retail, and Property ownership\management.

Throughout her life she was always an unselfish, giving, noble, persevering, hardworking, caring, business savvy, and loving grandmother, mother, aunt, and sister. She has touch countless lives, as everyone she met she has helped in some sort of way. Many have owed her gratitude of helping in times of need, giving in time of needs, and assisting so many families throughout the community and in Cambodia. She leaves behind a legacy to equal that of a Bodhisattva (Saint).
