Following high school in Calhoun Falls, SC, a textile career moved him throughout SC and NC, ending with nearly 30 years as Plant Engineer of the former Beacon Mfg. of Swannanoa. He designed/patented equipment and later owned a mechanical/electrical business prior to retirement. He enjoyed writing songs and was self-taught in playing several instruments, once selected in the 1980s to audition for a Nashville music show competition. He lettered in 3 high school sports, played tennis leagues with his family and softball on company teams, before becoming an avid golfer, a passion that remained with him through the rest of his life. To meet him was to meet a new friend and he made them from all walks of life. The last 4 years he exemplified grace under fire. Hallmarks of his life were steadfast friendships, a close-knit family, loving church home and the devotion of many dogs, the last his beloved Chloe. He came into the presence of the Lord on Christmas morning.
