Obituary for Graham Monro Smith

Print
Graham Monro Smith of Warrington, formerly of Patchogue, Long Island, New York, passed away at his home on January 2, 2019. He was 71 years old.

Graham was born in Bay Shore, NY and was the son of the late Charles Edward and Ruth Elizabeth (Hildreth) Smith.

Graham had received his PhD in Chemistry, from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He worked for 30 years as a chemist for Merck & Co., Inc., first in Rahway, NJ and then in West Point, PA.

Graham and his wife Peggy enjoyed travel, cruising around the world. He especially enjoyed yearly visits to Ocean City, NJ, because that was wonderful time spent with his family. His multiple and varied interests included reading, communicating as an amateur radio operator, and learning to fly a helicopter. After his retirement he used his creativity and intellect to build a wood-working shop. He amazed his friends by building a CNC machine and then designing and building functional wooden grandfather clocks.

In addition to his wife Peggy, he is survived by his son Kenneth, daughter Karen, and grandson Holden.

Graham’s Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday January 10, 2019 at the Shelly Funeral Home 1460 Easton Rd., Warrington, where the family will receive friends after 10:00 am until the time of Service. Interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to: Fox Chase Cancer Center
