Obituary for Joseph John Perretta

Joseph J. Perretta, 92, of Union, passed away at his home on January 5, 2019. Born in Newark, he was formerly of Montclair before moving to Union in 1961.

Visitation will be on Monday from 4-7pm. Funeral mass will be on Tuesday at 10am at Church of the Assumption, Roselle Park. Burial will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union.

He was a self employed contractor for many years and was the owner of Joseph J Perretta Roofing & Siding. He served his country during WWII in the US Naval Construction Battalion and was a member of the Seabees. One of his many proud accomplishments was when he sanitized the Statue Of Liberty while working for ACME Plumbing, Linden.

Predeceased by 2 brothers & 2 sisters. Surviving is his wife of 69 years, Lorraine; his daughters, Susan Banasiak and her husband Fred; Eileen Blum and her husband Robert; Victoria Schindler and her husband Douglas; Carolyn Scannelli and Lauren Perretta; his grandchildren, Kelly, Kimberly, Kristin, Michael, Nicholas, Melissa, Matthew & Joseph; great grandchildren, Katelyn, Avery, Allison, Olivia, AJ, Julian , James & Lucas; his sister Anne Schmidt and many nieces & nephews
