Obituary for Samuel Paul Henry

Sam Henry, 70, of Arlington, TX passed away peacefully at home on January 8, 2019. He had a short but arduous battle with esophageal cancer.
Memorial Service: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 12, at St. Barnabas United Methodist Church, 5011 W. Pleasant Ridge Rd., Arlington.
Sam was born on May 1, 1948 in Knoxville, TN to Charles and Marjorie Henry and brother Gordon. His family eventually relocated to El Paso where he graduated from Coronado High School in 1967. He met his wife, Cindy, while they both attended school there. Although they did not officially date each other in high school, they were reunited some years later after high school.
Sam and Cindy were married on July 27, 1974 in El Paso. They had their first child on June 28, 1979 and her name was Melissa Lynn. On October 1, 1982 their second daughter, Gayle Marie, was born.
In 1985, the family relocated to Arlington where Sam worked for the Lofland company. After he worked for them and a few others, Sam ended up with his forever career of selling concrete for Pioneer. That company was sold several times and when he retired in January 2015, the company was called Argos. He made some of his very best friends selling concrete.
Sam was very active in the outreach ministries at church. He was involved with Wreaths Across America, Arlington Urban Ministries, Open Arms Clinic, and countless others. Sam found such joy in helping others in any way he could. Sam never met a stranger and would always find someone he knew wherever he went.
He had a love for carpentry and he was always finding something to fix at their house. He loved spending time
outside working in the yard too!
One of his greatest joys in life was to buy things for everyone in the family. Every Christmas, he would buy a flashlight for everyone and the granddaughters loved playing with them! Sam is surely shining his brightest flashlight down on all of us right now!
