Obituary for Gord

Walker, Gordon Edward
Gord passed away on Sunday March 24, 2019 in his 76th year. Beloved husband of the late Wendy Walker(nee Ferris). Cherished father of Jim Walker (Sylvie) and Sharon Palmer (Greg). Proud and loving grandfather of Matthew, Brooke, Connor and Kristie. Gord will be sadly missed by his sister, Shirley Luchyshyn, his sister in law Lydia Walker and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers Harold, Allan, Jimmy, Jack and his sister Margaret.
As a lifelong resident of Welland, Gord made many friends along his journey. He enjoyed nothing more than a good drink, a long laugh and a round of golf – in no particular order. Gord was a free spirit who joined the United States Marine Corp in 1959. He returned home, met and married the love of his life. Gord and Wendy were married for 50 fabulous years. Gord worked various jobs until he became an electrical apprentice in 1977. He was a Journeyman Electrician with the IBEW Local 303 until he became a Zephyrhills Snowbird and part-time chauffeur to his grandchildren in 2000. During this time Gord was also a part of the Copestone Masonic Lodge 303 and a member of the Port Colborne, Welland and District Shrine Club. Gord was also recognized for 20 years of service as a member of Welland Volunteer Fire Company #3.
Our Dad taught us to love each other and laugh at any opportunity you can. For this we are forever grateful. As per our Dad’s wishes we will be having a celebration of his life. We felt in order to honour this man we should do it on his day – April 15th. This was always Saint Gordon’s Day. Please join us at his favourite meeting spot Handlebar Hank’s at 5pm. We request you bring your most memorable Gord story to share with us. And we know there are many.
