Obituary for Terrence Byron McGillicuddy

Terrence Byron  McGillicuddy
HOULTON - Terrence (Terry) Byron McGillicuddy, age 82, passed away June 5, 2019, after a long struggle with Lewybody Dementia. Terry was born August 26, 1936 in Houlton, to Paul and Pauline (Stewert) McGillicuddy of Houlton.

Terry attended his freshman year of high school at St. John’s Prep School in Danvers, MA, and three years at the Ricker Classical Institute in Houlton. Terry was a member of the National Guard for many years. He grew up on his beloved East Grand Lake at his parents’ cottage and continued to love East Grand Lake throughout his life. He worked many years for his father at McGillicuddy’s Furniture Store, Mobil Oil Company, and eventually as supervisor at the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office before his retirement. Terry was an avid HAM radio operator and was proud of his call signal “W1ZUA”, which could be seen on his car’s license plate. He was a member of the Houlton Elks Lodge #835, having served as Grand Exalted Ruler. He was also a devoted brother to the Houlton Masonic Lodge #96 and was a very proud member. Terry loved spending time with his family at East Grand Lake and enjoyed sailing/boating with his siblings.

Terry is survived by the mother of his children, Patricia Leveille; his children Terrence (Linda) McGillicuddy; Tim McGillicuddy; Hollie (Jeff) McGillicuddy; and Erin McGillicuddy; grandchildren Megan McLaughlin, Keelin Martin, Caitrin Craig, Connor and Maura McGillicuddy, Kendal, Suddie, and Kai Dunn, Chad Sandvil, and David Joseph; 7 great grandchildren. Terry is also survived by his siblings; Maureen (Leo) Connerton, David McGillicuddy, and Jane (Geoff) Phipps; special nieces Peggy and Katie McGillicuddy, and special nephew Ryan McGillicuddy; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents, Paul and Pauline.

The McGillicuddy family would like to extend a special thank you to the hardworking nurses and CNAs at Madigan Estate Nursing Facility for the loving care they extended to Terry. Friends may call from 1-2 PM, Wed. June 12 at the Church on the Hill, Military Street, Houlton, Maine followed by a funeral at 2 PM. Interment will be at the Orient Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Terry’s memory to Adopt–A-Block of Aroostook County, Military Street Baptist Church, 307 Military Street, Houlton, ME 04730.
