Obituary for Rocky M. Allen

Rocky M. Allen
Rocky M. Allen, age 58, Erwin, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2019. He was a life-long resident of Unicoi County and a son of the late Fred Allen and Sara Allen Shell.

Rocky was of the Christian Faith. He was retired from CSX Railroad after thirty-seven years of service as a carman.

Rocky had a deep love for his community, whether he was volunteering as a coach at the Unicoi County Little League, raising money for the Children’s Miracle Network, or playing music for a variety of fundraisers. Rocky was always willing to lend a helping hand.

He accomplished a great deal in his life but, he was most proud of being a father to his daughter, Kayla. She was the joy of his life. Rocky considered being a husband and father his greatest blessing. He loved his family and was a devoted and loving brother, uncle, coach, and friend.

In addition to his parents, Rocky was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Harley and Louise Allen, maternal grandparents, Oscar and Maude Miller.

Those left to cherish Rocky’s memories include his loving wife of twenty-four years, Karen Allen; his daughter, Kayla Allen, who was his whole world; his brothers: Robert Allen, and Roger Allen (Kristen); special nephews: Rhett and Ryan Allen; nieces: Jessica Burleson (Chris), and Samantha Allen, all of Erwin; his special mother-in-law, Carol Cook; sister-in-law, Kim McCoy (Scott), all of Louisville, KY; several uncles, aunts, cousins, and numerous friends also survive.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM Thursday, June 20, 2019 at the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made in memory of Rocky, to his favorite charity, the Children’s Miracle Network, https://childrensmiraclenetworkhospitals.org/donate/
