TURMEL, Vera (McQuiggin) 1941 – 2019
With saddened hearts, the family announces the sudden passing of Vera to be with her Lord, when at the Welland Hospital on August 4, 2019 at 78 years of age. Beloved wife of Henri Turmel. Cherished mother of Barbara Anne McDermid (Ron) and mother-in-law to Stacey Horne. Dear sister of Gladys Marchand and Helen Borg (Lyle). She will be missed by her nieces and nephews. Proud grandmother of Justin and Keirston McDermid and Katelyn Schram. Predeceased by her parents George (1985) and Muriel (1999) McQuiggin, her former husband Gordon Schram (1996), her sister Grace Battyanyi (2012) and her son “Gordie” Schram (2014). Vera would take the time to visit and help those who needed encouragement and support. She enjoyed playing the organ at church. The family wishes to thank the hospital staff for their extended effort and the pastor and members of the Beacon Baptist Church for their support. Visitation will be held at the H.L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland on Thursday August 8, 2019 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. If so desired, donations may be made to Beacon Baptist Church.
