Obituary for Elliott Grace "Ellie G." Castro

Elliott Grace "Ellie G." Castro
Elliott Grace “Ellie G” Castro, age 4 ½ passed away September 13, 2019. Ellie G
entered this world on May 30, 2015 and from that day forward she would prove to be an example of courage, strength and joy to all who had the privilege to know her, or know of her. Diagnosed with a rare, terminal form of dwarfism, Rhizomelic Chondrodysplasia Punctata, she defied the odds and would pave the way (along with help from State Rep. Charles Sargent) to make sure that any child born in Tennessee would receive life-changing services and support from the Tennessee Early Intervention System by putting RCDP on the list of accepted diagnoses.

While her tiny little frame would never take a step or her beautiful little face utter a word, she found her voice through laughter and smiles. A lover of music, bright flashing lights and loud noises, Ellie G received constant and loving support from her incredibly devoted parents who proved to be the sustaining force in her abbreviated life. She was blessed with a huge support system that was rooted in her large dedicated family and bolstered by her team of therapists at High Hopes Development Center, her team of specialists at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital and a community that kept their arms wrapped around her with encouragement, love and support, her Team Elliott.

Preceded in death by grandmother, Brenda Castro. Survived by: loving parents, Brandon and Samantha Castro; grandparents, Terry and Cher Castro, Mendall and Brandy Blanton; great grandparents, Beverly Castro, Nancy Rainey and Mary Hale; aunts and uncles, Brent Castro, Tyler Castro, Chase Moon, Mattison Moon, Nick (Ashley) Rainey, Caitlin Rainey, Zac Blanton and Emma Blanton and other loving family members. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to High Hopes Development Center, 301 High Hopes Court, Franklin, TN or Rhizo Kids International, c/o Tracey Thomas, 50 Cross Creek Lane, Alpine, AL 35014. Visitation will be 4-8PM Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at WILLIAMSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 615 794-2289 williamsonmemorial.com
