A Kind and Caring Person

My memories of Estelle Brazeau go back to when I was very young boy. Roger and Estelle were my God Parents, and I often spent weeks at a time on their farm on the 9th Conc of Lancaster. This was a very special and wonderful experience, that I remember to this day. I remember waking before dawn and going to the barn with Roger to help with the chores and the milking, as much as a child could help, but in the mind of a child this was a very big deal, so much enjoyed. I remember that when we would come back to the house, Estelle would be there, with a big warm smile a hug and a kiss and the most wonderful breakfast you could imagine, cooked on a wood stove. The mornings would become end of day and the summer days would pass to weeks, but always, there was the presence Estelle, kind, caring, smiling and laughing, I was always happy in her presence. We shared a laugh years later, recounting a time when my own mother called to see how I was, of course I related I was fine and having the best time of all, but I said mom, Estelle and Roger get up at midnight and start their day. To a five or six-year-old boy, going to the barn before sunrise was midnight. Years later when I would have a chance to meet Estelle, we would laugh about that. As the many years passed, I would on occasion, spend many more joyous hours on the Brazeau farm, and later in life for one reason or another meet Estelle again. I will always remember, that she was always that same wonderful warm, and caring person, with a big smile, a kiss and a hug, that I knew as a young boy many years ago at a wonderful farm on the 9th conc of Lancaster Twp.
