Obituary for Donald Wade Booker

Booker, Donald Wade - On Thursday December 31,2020 Donald Wade Booker passed away quietly in his sleep at his much loved home for Community Living on Calla Terrace in Welland.
Donald will be sadly missed by his Sister Susan, Brother Gord, Sister in Law Jane, his Auntie Ruth and his loving extended family at Calla Terrace and the many special friends he has made along his life journey. Donald was predeceased by his parents Donald and Isabel, and brothers Ron (Gail) and Mike (Dianne).
Donald was challenged by mental and physical disabilities all his life. Donald’s differences made us and everyone around him better and more compassionate people. His loving personality drew you in and helped us all understand the incredible contributions a person with intellectual disabilities can have. Donald loved music and his talent brought him to become a well known member of the Momentum Choir of Niagara. Thousands of people were entertained by the emotionally uplifting performances they did over the decade that Donald was a performer.
Donald had many interests in life, his musical interest included the collection of many musical instruments. He thoroughly enjoyed TV, especially game shows and anything that involved emergency service personal. He had a passion for ships and trains and often enjoyed trips to the canal or railway tracks to watch them. Donald had 2 favourite times of the year, May which was his birthday month and Christmas. We think it had a lot to do with the presents and the opportunity to visit with family. He also enjoyed hockey (especially helping the referees with penalty calls). Donald had a strong faith and cherished the times he attended church.
Donald and his family would like to thank the many caring support staff at Calla Terrace that loved and supported him with kindness and treated him like family over more then 30 years that he called it home.

“Donald will always be in the part of our heart that makes us smile.”

Due to covid 19 restrictions a service will not be held at this time. A celebration of life will be arranged in the future when we are able to gather safely.
If you wish, as an expression of sympathy, a donation can be made to the Momentum Choir Niagara or Community Living Welland Pelham
