Emmanuel "Manuel" Vachon
Vachon, Emmanuel - Peacefully with family by his side at Eastholme for the Aged in Powassan on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at the age of 87 years.
Emmanuel Vachon was predeceased by his parents: Rose [Gougeon] and Samuel Vachon; sister: Thérèse Perreault; brothers: Léo and Valois Vachon; and by his nephew Paul Vachon. Survived by nephews: Denis [Jennifer] Vachon, Michel Vachon, Marc Vachon; nieces: Ginette Trudel, Lorraine [Gerry] Robbins and their families.
Emmanuel was a great and gentle man who took great pleasure in the outdoors, with fishing and berry picking being favourite pastimes. In the early days, he worked in the mines in the Kirkland Lake area and was involved in the construction of the St Lawrence Seaway. In recent years and declining health, Manuel lived in contentment and in good care at Eastholme for the Aged in Powassan.
A funeral mass celebrating his life will be held on Friday, June 4, 2010 at 11:am from Our Lady of the Lake Church - Larder Lake. Father Henri Touaboy officiating. Interment will follow at the Kirkland Lake Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Eastholme for the Aged would be gratefully acknowledged.
