Donald Espin, 79, died Friday (November 26, 2010) at the Lutheran Home at Kane where he had resided.

Born October 5, 1931, in Ludlow, he was a son of John and Anna Turay Espin. On February 19, 1955, at St. Callistus Church in Kane, he married Constance “Connie” Colella who survives.

Don was a member of St. Callistus Church where he served as an usher. He also was a past member of the Kane Country Club and the Kane Elks Club. During the Korean Conflict, he served with the Navy aboard the USS Wasp.

He was a long-time coach and supporter of American Legion Baseball. He also was a great Kane Wolves fan and supporter for thirty years and operated the scoreboard time clock for all home football games and cooked meals at pre-season football camps.

He was a great fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Don was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren’s various activities.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Connie are six children, Mark (Lynn) Espin of Warren, Christine (Paul) Espin van den Broek of the Netherlands, Jan (Herm) Stork of Erie, Julie (Bruce) Seavy of Bethel Park, Joseph Espin of Kane and Patrick (Tina) Espin of Erie; two sisters, Betty (Don) Reigel of Emporium and Patricia Horton of Kane; eight grandchildren, David, Brian and Lara Espin, Sean and Jacob Seavy, Amanda Espin, Marika and Marcus van den Broek; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Eugene “Gabby” Espin, John “Dunk” Espin and Raymond “Mita” Espin and a sister, Delores Polaski.

Friends will be received at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. with a vigil service to be held at 8:30 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A. M. Monday at St. Callistus Church with The Rev. Philip Pinczewski officiating.
