Donald Hale Barker, 82, of Greeley, CO passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 25, 2004 at Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado Inpatient Unit.A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at First United Presbyterian Church. Cremation will be completed. A private family graveside service will be at Linn Grove Cemetery.He was born on January 21, 1922, one of five children, to Wesley and Mabel (Hale) Barker in New Raymer, CO. The family later moved to Greeley where he graduated from Greeley High School in 1940.Don served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. After managing F. W. Woolworth stores for many years, he retired and returned to Greeley in 1978. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church.Don married Eleanor Trent on November 9, 1944, and they were married for 59 years.His wife, Eleanor Barker of Greeley, CO; daughters, Maureen and husband Rob Oakes of Los Alamos, NM and Donna and husband Don Hammons of Portales, NM; son, Dennis Barker and wife Paula of Modesto, CA; sister, Gwen Givens of Fountain Valley, CA; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren survive him.His parents preceded him in death.In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the First United Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or Hospice and Palliative Care in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 702 13th Street, Greeley, CO 80631.
