I knew Don toward the end of his teaching tenure at Colgate, and he was one of my favorite people in Hamilton. One of the nicest people I ever met - always good for a hearty conversation about anything. I lifeguarded at the Colgate pool in the 1980's and 90's, and my coworkers and I always looked forward to seeing Don and Wanda drop by for a swim. They seldom missed a day. I can still picture Don finishing his swim and wiping every last drop of water from his ears. Secondly, his performance in "The Gondoliers" was unforgettable. What a voice!
