Obituary for Kathleen A. "Kate" Megargee

Kathleen A. Megargee, 58 of Bensalem, PA passed away of natural causes on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at her home.
Born in Somers Point and raised in Ocean City, NJ, she was a longtime resident of Bensalem, PA.
Ms. Megargee worked as a Freelance Journalist for many years, producing, reporting and writing for broadcast television, radio and the Internet. Kate was the winner of numerous professional awards, including: Seven Emmy Awards from the New York and Mid-Atlantic chapters of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, primarily for her work on “Classroom Close-up, NJ”, broadcast on NJTV. She received A New York Newswomen's Front Page Award and two Philadelphia Press Association awards.
Kate worked for NJN Public Television and WQED Multimedia, where she anchored and reported for "The People's Business", a weekly statewide politics and public affairs program. She also served as Press Secretary to the Pennsylvania Department of Aging.

Surviving are four brothers, William S. Megargee (Ruth) of Newport, NJ, Michael J. Megargee (Catherine) of Ocean City, NJ, Stephen J. Megargee (Stephanie) of Philadelphia, PA, Edward E. Megargee (Renata) of Princeton, NJ, one sister, Althea M. Daley (Patrick) of Mahopac, NY and 14 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Irwin F. and Althea Megargee and a brother Irwin F. Megargee IV (Virginia Szczepanski) of Marmora, NJ. She is much loved and will be sadly missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock from St. Augustine’s RC Church, of St. Damien Parish, 13th Street at Wesley Avenue, Ocean City, NJ where friends may call from nine until 9:45. Burial will follow mass in Seaside Cemetery, Palermo, NJ.
