Carolyn Berry, 84, died April 8. She was the daughter of C. Wilmer and Sara Elder Heery of Georgia. Carolyn studied art at the University of Georgia and lived most of her life in Athens/Atlanta, Georgia and Central New York.

Carolyn and her husband, Paul, were owners of Skylark Studios in Manlius, NY. They taught art classes and did painting conservation, advertising design, and portraiture. Her portraits include Senator Richard Russell of Georgia and Dr. David Murray of SUNY Upstate.

Carolyn was predeceased by her parents; her husband, artist Paul Snow Berry, in 1997; and her sister, Harriet Kasak, in 2003. She is survived by her brother, architect George Heery (Betty) of Atlanta; daughters Janet Kass (Dr. Richard) of Columbus, Ohio; Susan Keeter (Seth Tucker) of Syracuse; grandchildren Dr. Jesse Kass (Louisa McClintock) of Columbia, South Carolina, Amanda Kass of Chicago, Sara Tucker and Emma Tucker of Syracuse; many nieces and nephews; and her “adopted” daughter Lorraine Rapp (Dr. Jeff Kirschner) of DeWitt.

A multi-faith memorial service will be held at 10am on Saturday, April 12 at Grace Episcopal Church, 819 Madison St. (at University Ave.) in Syracuse. Calling hours will be from 9-10am at the church.
