My Aunt Evie

She was one beautiful classy lady. Every summer she invited me and my siblings out to spend a couple weeks at her home. So many memorable trips,  picking berries for pies, for some reason by the time we  got back with the berries there were never enough for a pie! I think she pretended disapointment. The trips to Savin rock swimming.  The picnics in the back yard. Riding in the lawn cart while Uncle Harold drove around the yard. Swimming with the cousins. Being able to visit with Grammy when she moved in. Reading Bobsey Twins and Nancy Drew under the covers with a flashlight. Picking blueberries at Aunt Bettys I think to give her a break. Listening to her laugh and the joy she took in having her family nearby. It occurred to me as I got older what an influence she was on me, because of the distance I never connected her direct influence, but it's there, when I took my Nana into my home when she was no longer able to care for herself. My love for reading, she always turned a blind eye when I was absorbed in a book instead of sleeping. She never failed to ask what the book was about and what was my impression of it? I have spent a lifetime mising spending time with her, but at least I always knew she was there. I sent letters and Christmas cards, updates on life and when my children came. She always sent a reply. She was one classy lady and very much loved.
