Michael Scott Welcelean age 60, of Temple, Texas passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at a local hospital. He was born July 31, 1956 in Dover, Delaware to William and Frances (Copeland) Welcelean.

He married Laura (Gagnon) Welcelean on May 19, 2001 in Temple, Texas. Michael graduated from Temple High School in 1975. He was a member of the Baptist church and was a member of the Morgan’s Point Dive Team.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents William and Frances, his grandparents Herman and Lela Copeland and one sister Toni Bruggman.

Michael is survived by his wife Laura of Temple, daughter Brooke and husband Paul Goggans of Fort Worth, son Christopher and wife Ashley Welcelean of Temple, daughter Dawn and husband Tim Surnick of Temple, son Rickey and wife Laura Wirick of Nampa, Idaho, and son Wesley and wife Casey Wirick of Portland, Texas. He is also survived by one brother Patrick Welcelean of Melbourne, Florida. Michael also leaves behind eleven grandchildren Maggie Goggans, Mia Welcelean, Morgan and Nathan Surnick, also Alex, Devin, Zacc Wirick and Kayla, Tierra, Austin and Joshua Wirick.

A private family service for Michael will be held at a later date.

Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with the arrangements.
