Genuine

Lee Peters.....

I know many of you have a recolection of a family man, business man, friend, confidant. Although he was all of that, for me he was genuine. I had, and still do have a lot of respect for that man.  He was a genuine gentlemans, gentleman. I was impressed many years ago by the handshake. When Lee approached you and extended his hand it meant something. For that 20- 30 seconds he would hold on. And yes it was sometimes that long. He genuinely was interested in what you had to say. There was a closeness, that his greetings would bring. It was wecloming.  I remember the way he entertained others, treated his beautiful wife Mary, dealt with family. He was a true gentelman

I have alot of memories with Uncle Lee. One that comes to mind takes place about 15 years ago. Me, a young family man had been working for a landscape company for a few years. While at the house on Walnut, Lee asked for my opinion on his lawn sprinkler system. Me, with a few years under my belt puffed my chest out a bit a proceeded to offer my opinion. Lee, as I remember had many questions which challenged me even further. He  accepted my suggestions and hired me to do some work. I came by on a Saturday I believe, did the work which took most of the day. Lee prepared and served me lunch. Not because he had to, it was because he was genuinely interested in getting to know me. I remember it like it was yesterday.  It never felt like working for a boss, or even family, but rather a friend, an equal. Lee had a way of talking to people. He could get  a point across without devalueing your opinion. That impressed me.

A Genuine man with a Great spirit.

Brad Peters
