Condolence: Chaplain Franks married my wife and I at Taipei Air Station in March 1967. After 52 years of marriage she was called home to be with the Lord. He also baptized my wife and I and dedicated our son. I still have wonderful memories of him and the services he provided at the air station.

Condolence: Dan and I were contemporaries in the Air Force Chaplaincy with similar experiences and assignments. We were never assigned together but we shared attitudes, convictions, doctrines, methods, literature, and a deep appreciation for obscure authors. His e-mail address, "coldcountryfarm@***, was wonderfully taken from the title of a book by an English Author, Stella Gibbons, written in 1932, the year Dan was born.

When I first saw his e-mail address I called him to tell him The book was also in my library. We congratulated ourselves and laughed.

I will miss my dear friend.

Condolence: To the family of Dan Franks: I met Dan when I was a young Air Force chaplain many years ago. As a woman in the chaplaincy things were often difficult, but Dan was always supportive and reinforcing of my call and talent. He was so important in keeping me encouraged and believing that God was in my life. He will be greatly missed. The wold never has enough of his caliber,or his intelligence and compassion! My prayers are with you all, though I rejoice in his life!!

Condolence: Dearest Sue, My most sincere sympathy to you and the family. You may recall that Dan was the reason Carl joined Coker UMC back in 1990; and that Carl was the one who reproduced the little Crosses that you envisioned for the Acolytes, which they still wear, by the way. Because of that, he made well over 3,000 which he gave away to folks going on missionary trips, and to friends, etc. I'll venture that Carl and Dan are reminiscing about their Air Force days and sharing many laughs. I won't forget the times we parked our motor home in your driveway in Mexia and spent happy times with you both. Hugs and blessings.

Condolence: Oh, Sue, I am so sorry to hear about his passing! In the year I sat with him in study, I was in awe of the depth of his wisdom. I always hoped he would write a book, to share with the world. Blessings on you and your family for peace and comfort.

Condolence: I worked with Dan at Coker United Methodist Church for several years. He was loved by the staff and congregation....a very spiritual presence in our midst. Sue was a huge addition to our music program. One of Dan's dear friends at Coker were Ginny and Jack Trawick and Jack's funeral was this past Friday. They are reminiscing now I am sure. Our sincerest sympathy and love to Sue - what a beautiful marriage they had. Judy and Bob Howen

Condolence: Dan was a patriot and a pastor, a great husband and father. As a nephew, I always remember being greeted with a big, warm smile that made me feel most welcome. He met life with a confident faith and a sense of humor. He will be missed!
